Two partners. One job: make your numbers make sense.

AMX Business and Bookkeeping started when Michael Berger, after years in corporate accounting, saw how many small companies needed everyday bookkeeping help and were not getting it. He partnered with Anthony Logozzo to build a firm that does exactly that.

How AMX started

Michael spent the first part of his career in manufacturing, working up to corporate controller. When that company was sold, he joined a mid-sized accounting firm and began working with smaller businesses for the first time. The pattern was clear: owners were making decisions on incomplete books, not because they did not care, but because nobody was keeping up with the daily work.

That gap is what AMX was built to fill. Michael and Anthony started the firm to give small and growing New Jersey businesses the same organized records and readable reports that large companies take for granted, and to act as the liaison between an owner and their CPA.

Since then the work has grown to include controller services, ERP consulting and industry-specific reporting, with a team whose experience runs from sole proprietors to nonprofits and large companies. The job has not changed: keep the books right, explain what they say, and help you plan the next step.

Michael brings more than 35 years of accounting and finance experience. He graduated from the Anisfield School of Business at Ramapo College of New Jersey with a specialization in accounting and business administration, and earned an MBA from Rutgers Business School with a specialization in supply chain.

He began his career at Federal Paper Board, learning manufacturing from the inside, and over twelve years rose to corporate controller. After the company was sold, he joined a mid-sized accounting firm and began working with smaller companies, which is where the idea for AMX took shape.

As the firm grew, Michael added ERP (enterprise resource planning) consulting, working with large companies such as L'Oréal and Siemens, private companies including IAB (Interactive Accounting Bureau), Kaysea, Cross Country Pipeline, Papp Iron Works, NJ Flexo Print and Hybrid Labels, and nonprofits such as Middlesex County College and the Rahway Public Library.

We do not promise results, because your results depend on your business. We do promise organized books, readable reports and a team that explains them. Here is what that is meant to make possible.

  1. Spend fewer hours on the books and more on the work that earns money
  2. Keep records that quality customers, lenders and partners can rely on
  3. Get more done in less time with a routine that fits your week
  4. Manage your team with clearer numbers behind each decision
  5. Cut expenses without cutting quality, because you can see what each one does
